Join the Stewards of the Wild team at the LoCo Trash Bash!

We're sending a team to the LoCo Trash Bash, a grassroots cleanup of the Lower Colorado River below Longhorn Dam. Volunteers can clean up on the banks or while floating the river. Since 2018, hundreds of volunteers have pulled 14 tons of trash from the river and banks. Illegal dumping is still a big problem, and this is how we help.

Where and when

  • Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
  • Cleanup: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Site 2, FM 973 Bridge, Austin, TX 78725
  • After party: 3:00 PM at Big Webberville Park. Come celebrate, whether or not you made the cleanup.

What to bring

  • Closed-toe shoes that can get muddy
  • Work gloves
  • Long pants, sun protection, and a hat
  • A refillable water bottle

Additional Call for heavy-hauling equipment

Cleanups like this tend to turn up tires, appliances, and other bulky junk. If you have gear you can lend for the day, let us know. From the LoCo Trashbash site: Equipment support such as trash grabbers, shovels, rakes, gloves, and hand sanitizer are welcomed and needed. Large trash trailers are especially vital.

Reply with what you have, whether you can bring it yourself or want to drop it off, and when you can be at Site 2. We'll coordinate so the right equipment is in the right place.
